ArtFocus, Tel Aviv central bus station, Tel Aviv, Israel
These installation works were one of my inaugural public projects, which I had exhibited as part of the Art Focus I show. I crafted these constructions at Tel Aviv’s Central Bus Station – an abandoned and neglected urban spot, which served as a hideout for the homeless and for Palestinian construction workers who were employed far from home.
The impetus for the show was the discovery of a hole inside a plaster wall in the dilapidated building. My incursion into that hole became the physical entrance into the installation, lending visitors a layered view of this architectural wasteland. I reorganized the different objects that I had found strewn there on the filthy floor; in some cases, I made use of these vestiges of life in the construction of new works.
