Rose Bleed 2003
Bronze, 67 × 86 × 50 cm

This work is a bronze sculpture of a collapsed figure curled up in a childlike position. The sculpture is a hybrid; it is half figurative and half molded as a squat latrine — the kind used in the Near and Far East and dubbed

“Eastern toilet.” The figure’s ribs protrude through its back, identical to the toilet’s ribbed surfaces intended for the placement of the user’s feet.
