A sculpture made of a cube of solid marble. I drilled away holes with a diamond core drill, and then ejected the remaining marble cylinders, which became the possibility of this object to move. The method using 'rolls' is the most ancient and simple way to mobilize heavy loads: www.cheops-pyramide.ch/khufu-pyramid/sledge-tracks.html, In this simple work, the 'hole', and the lack which it represents, are being connected to the notion of movement, time and progress. In this specific manifestation of my 'core' idea, and in response to the shows subject "Art, Media and the Truth", at the Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin, I used Carrara marble which has a lot of gray marks, to me it resembled murky news paper print. I rolled weightless pages of news papers in all languages inside the holes and around the heavy cylinders --- suggesting the procedure of soil sampling and exploration, which takes place before construction with similar core drills… I let the ephemeral news headlines and articles read as the "sediment" and depth "information", as well as reminding us of the way an analogue news paper is conceived on printing machines … the last medium of concrete and analogue mass communication.
